Coming Soon: A Smarter, More Interactive EHSJ Dashboard

We’re excited to announce that our public dashboard is getting a major upgrade!
The new version will feature improved visuals, interactive elements, and a stronger focus on accuracy and more up to date insights into homelessness in our community.

This next step reflects our ongoing commitment to sharing transparent, data-driven updates that help partners, policymakers, and the public better understand both the progress made and the work still ahead in ending homelessness in St. John’s.

At Horizons at 106, every number tells a story of progress and partnership.

73 residents are currently staying at our Transitional Supportive Housing Initiative, a safe and stable space where individuals can rebuild their lives with wraparound supports.

30 residents have successfully transitioned into permanent housing since opening, showing what is possible when community, housing, and health partners work together.

The referral process remains ongoing, ensuring that those most in need continue to be connected to safe and supportive housing.

This work would not be possible without the collaboration of our partners and the dedication of staff who make Horizons feel like home.

Everyone Counts: St. John’s Homeless Point-In-Time Count 2024 Results Now Available

This community-wide snapshot provides important insights into who is experiencing homelessness in St. John’s, where gaps remain, and how our collective efforts are making progress.

The PiT Count is a key tool that helps guide local planning, improve coordination, and shape the path forward toward ending homelessness.

On August 28th 2025 HomeConnect reached a huge milestone!

Since launching in 2020, to August 28, 2025, HomeConnect has provided 100,000+ total days of housing!

That's 100,000+ days of helping individuals and families in our community find stability and hope.

Working with 19 landlords and 15 community agencies

270 total tenancies since the program began

83% of current tenancies last 3 months or more

45% of current tenancies last 1 year or more

40% of tenants had experienced chronic homelessness before joining

😊 Every number represents a life changed, and we couldn’t do it without our amazing partners, landlords, and community supporters.

Outreach by the Numbers: Q2 - 2025

From April to June, our Outreach Team recorded 1,114 client interactions across the community.
This includes 64 unsheltered visits, 207 visits to shelters and community agencies, and 262 completed tax returns, along with TBD applications completed.

Every connection represents a moment of support. Whether through direct services, referrals, or simply being there when someone needs help.

ℹ️ Our Outreach Team continues to meet people where they are and build trust one conversation at a time.

On October 10th, World Homelessness Day and World Mental Health Day, we hosted our third annual Homelessness Awareness Resource Fair!

The event, organized by the Streets 2 Stability Network, brought together organizations from across St. John’s working to support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. From legal supports and harm reduction services to employment programs and newcomer settlement, this fair was about connection, collaboration, and community.

As this event grows year over year, more and more individuals from the community have joined us to learn more about what is available, put faces to names, and spend a casual afternoon connecting with agencies and with each other.

🏗️ Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community where everyone has access to the support they need.

Coordinated Access to Homes Planning Day

EHSJ hosts quarterly Coordinated Access to Homes (CAH) planning sessions with partner agencies and frontline staff. These sessions help guide evolving needs and strategies across the housing and homelessness sector.

On October 22, the team focused on improving how we collect and use meaningful data as HIFIS continues to roll out across community agencies.

📊 The discussions highlighted collaboration, shared learning, and the importance of strong data systems in shaping better outcomes for those we serve.

About Photo Voice

Participants were invited to share their unique perspectives on homelessness through photos, images, and creative concepts. Each piece tells a personal story, guided by staff and paired with participants’ own words.

The final collection features photos taken by participants, AI-generated images they created, and visuals sourced from other media materials.

This project is designed to spark conversation and help community members, decision-makers, and others better understand what it’s like to experience homelessness.

The goal is to make voices seen and heard in a powerful, creative way. Together, with all our voices, we can build a community where every resident of St. John’s has a place to call home.

Horizons at 106: Housing Blitz 2025

As part of the Housing Blitz 2025, guests at Horizons at 106 gathered to share their experiences, insights, and solutions for improving access to housing.

Activities included postcard writing to the Minister of Housing and a panel discussion featuring local leaders and housing experts.

Together, we’re raising our voices and working toward real, lasting change.

The EHSJ team is in Montréal this week for the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness Conference - (CAEH25)

Joining housing and homelessness leaders from across the country to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and build toward a future where everyone has a place to call home.
